Unfortunately, archival sources do not reveal the author of the sculptures for the high altar, including the sculpture of Saint Stanislaus. Undoubtedly, they were made by Spiš sculptors who were fond of the dominance of figural and ornamental sculpture over painting decoration in works of small architecture. St. Stanislaus of Szczepanów was born around 1030 in Szczepanów and died on 11 April 1079 in Cracow; he was a bishop of Cracow, martyr and one of the main patrons of Poland.
