The sculpture was created in the second half of the 18th century and it depicts St. Sebastian, a martyr who died under Emperor Diocletian at the beginning of the 4th century. Unfortunately, research on furnishings of the St. Martin's church carried out so far, due to lack of archival records on the constructors, does not even try to determine a circle of potential authors of the reredoses and its sculptural decor. Certain stylistic features of the sculpture of St. Sebastian and an angel located in the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus altar final, indicate the author of sculptural decoration of the high altar and side altars in the church of Saint Quirinus of Neuss in Łapsze Niżne.
