The 19th-century sculpture was created in an unknown sculpture workshop. It depicts St. Nicholas, the Bishop of Mira, who lived at the turn of the 3rd and 4th centuries. Three golden balls, lying on a book, symbolise the gift that Saint Nicholas gave to three poor maidens as a dowry. In turn, the episcopal garb and the book refer to his pastoral mission while he was the Bishop of Myra in Lycia.
