Abstract

The statue of the Resurrected Christ was most likely made in the first half of the 17th century. The statue follows the Late Gothic convention, yet the way it was modelled indicates that it was created in a later period. The sculpture displays the triumph of Christ, who has risen from the dead. The wounds on his body as well as his red robe indicate martyrdom, and the banner wielded by him is the symbol of the victory over death.
